Some Do’s and Don’ts in the Event You Are in a Car Accident

Traffic and driving safety concerns have only increased in recent years and with more drivers on the road than ever before, car accidents are bound to happen.

Should you find yourself in an unfortunate vehicle accident, below are few basic steps you’ll want to take:

  1. Call the police. The report that is filed will be referenced by the insurance company once you file a claim.

  2. Take pictures of all damage involved. Document the damage done to all vehicles and any other property damaged as long as it is safe to do so.

  3. Swap information. Take what information the other driver does have, including address and phone number.

  4. Document events. Write down as much about the incident as you can, including VIN numbers and license plates.

  5. Watch your words. Remember that what you say during the incident may be documented by the police as part of their report. It’s important that you do not admit to any wrongdoing, inadvertently or not.

  6. Do not accept money. You also should not accept any money from the other driver as compensation.

  7. File a claim. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us to get the process started.

If you have questions about your existing coverage or would like to explore adding other options to your plan, please feel free to reach out to the office.
